Client: CAS Medical Systems
Service: Medical Device Product Development

CAS Medical Systems develops innovative technologies and monitoring devices that deliver accurate, reliable patient data.

Product: CAS Express, a software application designed to interface with infant apnea monitoring devices

Solution
Poliac played an integral role in the product development of the CAS Express software application.

  • The Windows custom software application we developed provides the ability to download, review, and analyze data from two different families of infant apnea monitoring devices.
  • Our solution contains specialized code for graphically displaying sets of waveform data retrieved from infant apnea monitoring devices via direct serial connection or dial-up modem.
  • The application contains a flexible and robust report engine, enabling the user to customize reports.
  • Data retrieved from the infant apnea monitoring devices is saved in a file format designed by Poliac Research. All data in the file is encrypted by the application to help guarantee patient privacy.
  • Poliac Research performed extensive software validation and verification to ensure that CAS Express performs correctly on several different operating systems

8501 Avionics Project, Product name withheld at customer request
a D0178B FAA approved product

  • Poliac was responsible for software documentation and custom software and custom firmware development.
  • The product is now successfully integrated as part of the fuel sensing equipment on military aircraft.
  • This project was a multi-processor system made up of three 40MHz 8051 microprocessors. Two processors are responsible for analog and digital input and calibration scaling. The third processor accepts a serial data stream from the two other processors, inspects and logs the data, and provides a serial data stream to the cockpit electronic flight information system.
  • The custom software design allocated timeslices to states of the application. The system was implemented and verified to meet the deterministic timing requirements of the design.
  • Extensive use of hardware simulation was used for custom software development, debugging, and code coverage verification

Product
System for Internal Use
Asset Tracking Software for use by Insurance Analysts

Poliac developed a Windows based custom software application to enhance their ability to track assets by geographic location.

  • The system was designed with layers of ancillary information, giving the ability to analyze and report on risk exposure.
  • This project utilized an interactive rapid-prototyping methodology. We developed stories based on the customer’s user experiences to capture a functional description of existing software tools, along with desires for the new application. Poliac created Use Cases and mock screens that served as the basis for the application. This process allowed us to gain rapid feedback on the features during design and implementation, allowing new ideas to be incorporated as development continued.
